Panoramic & Cone Beam CT Radiographic Interpretation for Today's General Dentist
We will begin with a review of panoramic radiographic technology and then present the radiographic interpretation of panoramic radiographs that represent a range of common pathologies seen in our patients at the UMSOD. Next, we will provide a review of Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) radiation biology, radiation safety and dosimetry geared towards the general dental practice.
We will then review a few basics of gross human anatomy with a correlation to what is seen in CBCT’s.
After the anatomy review, we will present selected cases of CBCT pathology to illustrate the importance of a structured, systematic process for reviewing CBCT’s. We will then spend most of the remaining portion of the course discussing the various clinical applications for the use of CBCT, such as implant planning, endodontic diagnosis, evaluation of growth and development, oral surgical evaluations, TMJ disorders, etc.
